I love Candy!

Statement watches and chunky bracelet are all the buzz, wanna try the trend? here are some ideas. I'm pro bargain hunting, but for this one, going for a reputable brand of watches is advisable. Watches can last you a long time, so they're worth the splurge! Then go cheaper on the bracelets. Studs, pearls, friendship bracelets, charms! just about anything, go crazy! :)

Been wearing this watch almost everyday since I bought it! I looove it. It's a Minx from American Swiss. Bracelets from Mr. Price

Spring Countdown

I have invites to two events this Friday, I haven't yet decided which one do I want to attend yet. But what I know is what I'll wear. the 31 is the last day of winter as September 1 is spring day! this look has elements of both seasons without being scatter, the beige and gold for winter, floral for with. I already have similar items in my closet to put it together, what's left is just for me to decide where I'm going. Do you like this look? share

Many Shades A Let-Down

So me and four of my friends started a book club last month. Initially we had planned to meet at Vuvu's place but something came, so we met at a restaurant. Apart from one of the club's members pulling out on the day, all went perfect! So the four of us had our first, official book club meeting. Zisanda chose the ever so controversial 'Fifty Shades of Grey" by E.L James lol.

If you haven't read the book yet, I hope this doesn't spoil it for you. I won't bore you with the details. but will share this lil bit: we all found it to be lacking a solid storyline and details; Anastasia's response to sex and this whole new world seemed unrealistically perfect; the author should have done more to make the reader understand what made Christian the way he is; though the author did say she was inspired by the Twilight saga to write this, we felt it was more than just inspiration, Fifty Shades seems like a rip off. Take the Ana character compared to Bella, they're both virgins from broken families; Christian compared to Edward, cold and heartless and part of a weird and discreet world.

Pamela thought the book would've been more fun if Kate had turned to be on of Christian's ex subs.

I'll leave it there. now here are some pics  we took

my meal and Fifty

did I mention that I had a gigantic pimple just at the top of my upper lip?

B*&#h Stole My Look:Hollywood vs Jozi

I just said that out loud in my best Joan Rivers voice. I'm sure you're familiar with the phrase from a segment on Fashion Police on Style Network.  As it says, it's about people accidental or intentionally(most times) doing a look that been done before. Personally I think it's inevitable really, clothes are made in bulk most of the time, even big brand make a whole range to sell, so it's bound to happen. Now check out such "b*&#h stole my look" moment between South African  vs Hollywood stars.

Carmen!!!but Penny doen't look bad either

The design is exactly the same but Tumi's fabric doesn't suit the cut! it's all just a lil too much, bright colour and shiny fabric? hack no! and the similar pose? pure coincidence?! lol

Bonang wins! I love how the top fits her

Dineo wore the dress in July while Lala wore just a few days ago, but I don't like Dineo's shoes with the dress. Lala's is by Aqua, not sure bout Dineo's
Kerry's bare chest just doesn't sit well with me so Lee-Anne takes it!

collars

Accessorised with tips, chokers or nifty necklaces, collars take centre stage in fashion, yet again. From the permanent Peter-pan to the attach/detach ones, I'm absolutely in love with all the collar trends.

One of my favourite shirts, two-tone with detachable tips, got it from Fashion Express

Spring! is that you?

So I've been going on about how much I miss spring, Gosh I do! This whole week has been nice and warm in East London. Hot even, I couldn't pass an opportunity to rock a summer frock! I will dress up this lacey baby in future. But I wasn't in the mood for heels this day so my rope sandals won!

Sunnies: Mr. Price, Dress, bag and sandals: Fashion Express, Jacket had it for over 5 years, forgot where I got it

#OOTD 14/08/2012: that hot pink blazer

I blogged about getting this pink blazer about two months ago. When I wore it the first time, I really didn't like the fit. I'd packed my stuff to get ready for a night out with a friend so I forgot the black shoes I'd initially planned to wear. So I wore my leopard print booties! The look flunked! Now here's my second attempt which I'm very happy about :)

Wowo is a wowzer!

I met this beautiful young lady, Wowo(real name Xoliseka) on Twitter sometime last year. She's an intelligent little missy, well on her way to becoming a lawyer. Wowo's style is also an interesting bit about her, which is why is featured here. Here's what she has to say bout her style "I just grab whatever's cute, I wanna be comfortable too. I'm a big girl so I like to cover up as much as I can, I don't want stuff hanging out in the wrong places(chuckles). I just wanna be sexxy! Big girls can be sexy too!"-Wowo.... Below are some of my favourites in her classy, diva lookbook.

barely there make-up for the newbies

Okay, so I slacked on the 30 day challenge. Now I've decided to just quit it.

I just thought it would be cool to advise girls who are still starting out in make-up, I'm no expert or anything but I have learnt a few things since my interested picked. The most important thing is to take care of the skin underneath the make-up to ensure a lovely canvas to work on.

After that a perfectly fitting foundation is key. It can be liquid, cream or mousse. Advice from a professional is key, to ensure that the colour you go for is your true match.

Perfectly shaped eyebrows are of great importance. By perfect I don't mean an unnatural arch that might even resemble the McDonalds clown lol...I mean a neat, well groomed shape. If you're not a fan of tweezing,  just fill them in, brush with a spooly then you're set and ready to go.

I think it's easier to start off with neutral tones, then slowly move on to the brighter colours when you're sure of your blending skills to ensure a clean look.

my simple everyday look

almost look like I have no make up on at all lol

For my foundation I used Revlon colorstay foundation in 011 spice, set it with Black Opal invisible oil blocking powder,  Maybelline Fit Me concealer in 30 cafe cafe  to brighten under the eyes and clean up around the eyebrows, I used Sleek GLO face and body highlighter for a bit of a glow, I dabbed a bit of Rimmel spring flower blush on the apples of my cheeks. Rimmel mascara in black and a goldish rimmel eyeshadow on the lid and teardot.Finished off with a Ralo lippy in 03, and clear lip gloss.

What do you think? Should do more make-up tips? what's your everyday look?
xx

day 9: pet peeves

1. people make a sound when they drink coffee, or anything..annoying

2. Chatting me up on WhatsApp and not telling me who you are

3. People who stand too close behind me in a queue, gosh I die

that's all I can think of now

Day 8: 3 things you want to say to different people

1. My son: You've unleashed a person in me that I never knew I'd ever be. You've taught me the true meaning of unconditional love. You've inspired me to dream and strive even harder to succeed.

2. Woman in an abusive relationship: You are beautiful, You deserve so much more. Leave.

3. Chris Brown: I love you...lol

Day 6: Do you read? What are your favourite books?

Yes I do read. Not as much as I used to though. I enjoy dark fiction. I have loads of favourites, I've read all Dan Brown's books, I can't pick one favourite though, Digital Fortress and The Davinci Code are awesome. I also enjoy Dean Koontz' stuff. Stephen King's Cell is another favourite. Ethan Hawk's Ash Wednesday is another favourite
